Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Monastery. The monastery was established in the mid-11thcentury A.D. It is one of the most ancient monasteries of Eastern Slavonic states. It has been the centre of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. The site is 70 acres in size with 11 Churches and religious structures. Here you will see the golden domed temples and old frescos preserved on the cave walls.
This monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and attracts people from all over the world. The territory is divided into two parts: on the upper Lavra you will find magnificent churches, interesting museums and exhibitions, while the lower part of Lavra is a Cave Monastery.
The monastery is located on picturesque hills and from the top of the Bell Tower you will delight in the view over the golden-domed monastery complex and the marvelous banks of Dnipro river.
